Foundation springs for defibrillators

Saving lives isn’t the Baldwin Education Foundation’s business, but it can help. The education foundation’s board voted to purchase four defibrillators for the Baldwin School District a couple of weeks ago. Each elementary school received the Automated External Defibrillator machines. Baldwin High School and Baldwin Junior High School each have one in place already. “The Baldwin Education Foundation stepped up and is paying for all of the AEDs going into the elementary buildings in the district,” Supt. Paul Dorathy said. “I feel very strongly that it is important to have them in all of our buildings for the benefit of staff, students and patrons.”
Defensive pressure lifts BHS girls to victory

The Baldwin High School girls’ basketball team has found the answer to zone defenses. For the second time in eight days, the Bulldogs unleashed a barrage of three-pointers en route to a victory.

Baldwin High School senior Caj Kueffer has only scored 14 points all season, but his two biggest came late in Tuesday’s contest. Kueffer stepped to the free throw line with 15.2 seconds left in the game. He sank both foul shots to give Baldwin a 62-60 advantage over Anderson County.
Bulldogs finish runner-up to national powerhouse

Finishing runner-up to a nationally ranked wrestling team is nothing to hang your head about. Baldwin High School wrestling coach Kit Harris wanted his squad to know that Saturday. “It’s obviously hard to get close to a team like that,” Harris said of Oak Park (Mo.)

WELLSVILLE — Bob Martin is now two-for-two when it comes to capturing Top Gun Tournament titles. On Saturday, the Baldwin High School girls’ basketball coach won his second straight championship here when his team defeated Ottawa 57-44.
Ziegler, Harris are promoted at Baker

Baker University President Pat Long has announced the appointment of Rand Ziegler as vice president and dean of Baker’s College of Arts and Sciences and Peggy Harris as interim dean of the School of Education.
Primary election plans fall into place

In the upcoming primary election, the difference between voting measures for Baldwin City Council and Baldwin School Board will again be evident. There are four openings on the school board and three for city council. However, because three incumbent board members are running unopposed, voters will only be casting a single choice in the Feb. 27 primary. On the city side, voters can choose up to three candidates.

A semester out of the country didn’t make Andrew Boyd forget where he lived. During his nearly six month stay in Australia, the Baldwin High School junior was constantly reminded of his roots in Kansas.
