DONALD F. SHAY
A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald F. Shay, 78, Baldwin City, was Saturday at the Annunciation Catholic Church, Baldwin City. Mr. Shaw died April 11, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 5, 1928, at Edgerton, the son of Richard Andrew and EvaLena (McMahan) Shay. He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1947.
He married Viola "Pat" Culbertson April 8, 1952. She died April 11, 2006.
He worked at Hercules Army Ammunition Plant, De Soto, and met Pat there in the early 1950s. They later worked at Ford's IGA, Baldwin City. He worked at Baker University as a carpenter and in the student union bowling alley. He retired in 1994.
He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and the Lions Club of Baldwin City.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Shay, Valerie Worley and Patty Shay, all of Baldwin City; two sons, Norman, Overland Park, and Gregory, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Mary Ellen Calwin, Topeka; a brother, Mike, Paola; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
His wife, a son, Donald, and two brothers, Retus and J.C. died earlier.
Burial was at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Baldwin City. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
