Young at Heart
to travel for lunch
The Young at Heart group from Lighthouse Baptist Temple will meet at 12:30 p.m. today at the church to travel to Ottawa for lunch. Community members are welcome.

Church honors
fire department
The Vinland United Methodist Church is having an "Appreciation Sunday" for the Palmyra Fire Department to express the community's gratitude to the organization.
Services will begin at 9:25 a.m. and lunch will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday. Chicken and noodles will be furnished. Community members are asked to bring salad and dessert.

Jazz concert to
be presented
The annual Chris Grubb Memorial Jazz Scholarship Concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rice Auditorium. The Baker University Jazz Ensemble under the direction of J.D. Parr will be featured.
Donations will be accepted at the door and are placed in Baker's endowed jazz saxophone scholarship fund. Several jazz band members will present solos and Todd Wilkinson, Kansas City bandleader and musician,will be guest soloist.

Garden club to
visit nurseries
The Baldwin Area Garden Connection will meet at 1:30 p.m. April 26 at the Baldwin City Public Library. The group will visit several local nurseries.

Relay for Life
sets meeting
Team Captains for Relay for Life will meet at 5:30 p.m. April 26 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital auditorium.

First UMC to
host spring supper
The First United Methodist Church will host the Community Churches' Spring Salad Supper at 6:30 p.m. April 26.
The program will be given by Joan Toot, Bill Clement and Dan Neuenswander about the mission trip they took this year to Honduras. Community members are welcome to attend. Childcare will be provided.

Job's Daughters to
serve breakfast
Job's Daughters will serve Biscuits and Gravy from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. April 28 at Masons Palmyra Lodge, 807 High St. Tickets are $5 per person.

Council to host
senior citizen prom
The Baldwin High School student council is hosting a Senior Citizen Prom from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. May 5 in the school cafeteria. Dinner will be served at 5:45 p.m. with dancing to follow.
Anyone 50 years or older is invited to attend at no cost. Reservations can be made by contacting Joyce Tallman, 594-2725, or any student council member by April 27. Food will be provided by the culinary team at BHS.
