WYATT IRVEN HENDRY

Funeral services for Wyatt Irven Hendry, 81, Baldwin City, will be at 2 p.m. today at Baldwin First United Methodist Church. Mr. Hendry died Oct. 23, 2006, at his home.

He was born Aug. 10, 1925, at New Albany, the son of Ray Howard and Zelma S. (Hanson) Hendry. He attended school at Fredonia and worked at the brickyard and the Linseed Oil Company at Fredonia. During World War II he moved to Wichita to work for Cessna and Beach Air Craft.

He married Mildred E. Finch May 15, 1945, at Augusta. She died Feb. 26, 1994.

They moved to Baldwin City in 1953. He hauled milk for Molene, Baldwin, and Bennetts Creamery, Ottawa. He purchased his own truck and worked for Cruppers Transport Co. and Southwest Forest Trucking Co., retiring in 1979. In 1962 he started Hendry and Sons Pest Control in Baldwin City. He worked at Baker University as a security guard and hauled cattle and horses after retiring.

He was a member of Baldwin Baptist Church and the Masonic Temple.

Survivors include a companion of the home, Wilma Ford; four children, Marvin, Topeka, Randal, Wellsville, Janelle McMechan, Lawrence, and Ronald, Linwood; three brothers, Virgil, Norman and Olin; two sisters, Ioma Meyers and Nona Deal; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister, Evalou Adams.

Burial is at Fouts Cemetery, Ottawa. Memorials may be made to Douglas County Visiting Nurses or the American Cancer Foundation and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
