DON L. HARSH
Funeral services for Don L. Harsh, 79, Baldwin City, formerly of Ottawa, were Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Ottawa. Mr. Harsh died Oct. 17, 2006, at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe.
He was born Aug. 13, 1927, at El Dorado, the son of Abram and Chella (Milner) Harsh. He graduated from Belleville High School in 1946 and from the Dry Cleaning School, Okmulgee, Okla.
He moved to Ottawa in 1965 where he owned and operated Don's Royal Cleaners. He also owned cleaners in Wichita and St. Joseph, Mo. In 1987, he worked for the Kansas Lottery as district manager, retiring in 1997. He moved to Baldwin City in 2000.
He married Wanda M. (McKay) Kraus June 7, 1968, at Paola. She survives of the home. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ottawa; the Masonic Lodge, Ottawa; coached baseball in Ottawa and delivered Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mark L. Harsh, Olathe; a step-son, Larry Kraus, Shell Knob, Mo.; a step-daughter, Betty Kraus, Ottawa; a brother, Dean, St. Joseph, Mo.; a sister, Wilma Barnes, Gladstone, Ore.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Burial was at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or First United Methodist Church, Ottawa, and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067.
