GARY RAYMOND FREITAS

Funeral services for Gary Raymond Freitas, 66, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence. Mr. Freitas died June 2, 2006, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.

He was born Feb. 14, 1940, at Fremont, Calif., the son of Raymond and Lucille Frates Freitas. He graduated from Fremont High School and attended college. He moved to Lawrence in the late 1980s. He worked for Farmland Industry and retired from there when it closed. He was also employed by the Kansas Turnpike Association and General Motors in Kansas and California. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Wednesday Morning Motorcycle Rides and American Motorcycle Association.

He married Lori Wolcott May 5, 1990, at Danforth Chapel, Lawrence.

Survivors include his wife of the home; his father; two sons, Greg and Gary of California; one daughter, Linda of California, and four grandchildren.

Burial will be at Stony Point in rural Douglas County with military honors by the Dorsey-Liberty Post #14 of the American Legion. The family will receive friends from noon until service time. Memorials may be made to American Motorcycle Association or the Lawrence Humane Society and sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, PO Box 1260, Lawrence, KS 66044.
