Marian J. Madl

Mass of Christian Burial for Marian J. Madl, 92, Lawrence, was Wednesday at the Annunciation Catholic Church, Baldwin City. Miss Madl died Jan. 1, 2006, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community, Lawrence.

She was born March 6, 1913, near Baldwin City, the daughter of Joseph F. and Barbara P. (Hadl) Madl. She attended elementary school at Prospect Rural School and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1932. She lived in the Baldwin area until 1998 when she moved to Lawrence.

She attended Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia earning a Bachelor's Degree in 1969. She taught school for 37 years in Douglas County, Edgerton and Baldwin City, retiring in 1977. She worked after retirement during the summer months at the Hatchett Lodge, Moran Wyo. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, Baldwin City.

Survivors include two brothers, Robert Madl and his wife JoAnn, and Alois Joseph Madl and his wife Marcella, all of Baldwin City; two sisters, Vivian Clark and Barbara Jean Evilsizor and her husband Ron, all of Lawrence; a sister-in-law Janice Madl, Baldwin City, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Arthur F. Madl and Ralph B. Madl; two sisters, Mildred E. Butell and Catherine E. Madl.

Burial was at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Baldwin City. Memorials may be made to Annunciation Catholic Church, Cemetery Fund, and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
