Frances Jean Pippenger

Funeral services for Frances Jean Pippenger, 85, Clay Center, were Tuesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Mrs. Pippenger died Feb. 15, 2006, at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center.

She was born May 26, 1920, at Overbrook, the daughter of Lloyd Waldo and Ruth Annie (Tregemba) Moody. She grew up in Overbrook and later lived in Franklin County until 1970 when she moved to Baldwin City. She moved to Clay Center in 2004.

She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1938. She worked at the switchboard at Baker University in Baldwin from 1971 until her retirement. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church in Franklin County.

She married Clarence B. Pippinger at Tauy Creek Church in Franklin County. He died June 10, 1995.

Survivors include four sons, Milton Pippenger and his wife Maribeth, Manhattan, Bill Pippenger and his wife Linda, Tucson, Ariz., Dan Pippenger and his wife Judy, Riverside, Calif., Rex Pippenger and his wife Kathy, Clay Center; two sisters, Alice Cox, Buhle, Ind., and Ethel McGinty, Randolph; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Lyle, two brothers, Lloyd and Harry Moody, and three sisters, Ruth Ann Kaub, Joy Christie and Avis Blakeman.
