After a long discussion in executive session Monday night, the Baldwin Board of Education did not approve the hiring of the convicted felon as the head custodian at Baldwin High School.

A mid-afternoon fire in the home of Bill and Jan Stotts at 818 Indiana Monday was trouble from its start with an unattended candle and didn’t end until the $123,000 home was destroyed. “It wasn’t Friday the 13th,” said Fire Chief Allen Craig, before being told of the date of the fire. “I didn’t think about Monday the 13th.” It was a full moon, too.

SPRING HILL — A 13-2 run early in the third quarter, sparked by eight straight points from junior Kelsey Verhaeghe, helped the Baldwin High School girls’ basketball team run away with a 53-37 victory here Thursday night.
BHS boys split high-scoring league contests

Both games were up tempo, high scoring and decided by fewer than four points, as the Baldwin High School boys’ basketball team split its Frontier League games against Spring Hill and Louisburg.

BHS falls three points shy of defending league title

The Baldwin High School wrestling team fell just a few points short of defending its Frontier League title, when it hosted the 13-team tournament Saturday. Paola placed only three points ahead of Baldwin to win the league crown with 175.5 points. Baldwin was able to hold off third-place finisher Gardner-Edgerton by one-half of a point as the Bulldogs scored 172.5 points.
