Hansen declines superintendent’s job
A day after accepting the job as superintendent of schools in Baldwin, Carol Hansen has changed her mind and declined the offer, according to an e-mail sent to all district employees Wednesday morning by Supt. James White.
Three candidates were interviewed last week for the opening, which occurred when White announced his retirement in November. Hansen was the first candidate to interview. She also met with district staff, as did the other two candidates, Scott Myers and Brad Neuenswander.
Hansen is superintendent of Central Community School District in DeWitt, Iowa, and would have taken over in Baldwin July 1. White wrote in his e-mail this morning that School Board President Lonnie Broers informed him this morning that Hansen had second thoughts about the job. Hansen had called Broers.
The e-mail also said the school board will consider its options in the next few days.
A complete story on the situation will be in this week's issue of the Signal, which will be published Thursday.
