BHS freshman termed ‘fine’
Although Baldwin Supt. Paul Dorathy can't say much about Tuesday's helicopter ambulance ride for a Baldwin High School freshman, he can say the girl is fine.
"She's in school today attending her classes," said Dorathy. "That's what I can tell you. For everyone to know, she's fine."
The school district is bound by privacy laws and Dorathy would not reveal anymore information regarding Tuesday's incident on the football practice field at BHS around 2 p.m.
The student was participating in physical education class, jogging on the football field, when she passed out, he said. Her teacher sent for the school trainer and an ambulance. The ambulance crew determined that the girl should be sent to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., via helicopter ambulance.
"I'm not going to judge the ambulance crew's choice," he said.
Dorathy said the girl returned to BHS Wednesday morning with a note from her doctor.
