Dillon wins four-way tie at Baldwin Open
Travis Dillon, a 1996 Baldwin High School graduate, won the 55th annual Baldwin Open golf tournament Sunday at the Baldwin City Municipal Golf Course.
Dillon survived a four-way tie at the end of 18 holes to win the tournament. He was tied with his father Tom Dillon, Ted Brecheisen and Zade Winslow of Lenexa. All four golfers shot a 68 in regulation to force the tie.
On the first playoff hole, Brecheisen and Winslow shot a bogey, while the Dillons each parred the hole.
The Dillons tied on the second hole to force a third sudden death hole.
It was on the third playoff hole, where Travis Dillon shot a birdie to win the tournament.
Tom Meinen and Steve Cawley each won the closest to pin contests on the No. 2 and No. 5 holes. Cawley also won the longest drive contest on hole No. 7.
A total of 34 golfers participated in the tournament Sunday. There were five flights that were all finished by noon. The playoff wrapped up around 1:30 p.m.
