DOROTHY E. SHUCK

Funeral services for Dorothy E. "Beth" Shuck, 83, Ottawa, were Wednesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Mrs. Shuck died April 7, 2006, at Olathe Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Douglas County, the daughter of Milton and Jessie Aileen (Truex) Kring. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1940. She was a nurse's aide at Orchard Lane Nursing Home, Baldwin City. She retired in 1988.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Ottawa, and Ottawa Women's Bowling Association.

She married Byron Shuck Sept. 19, 1942, in Douglas County. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Dianna Taylor and her husband Bud, Ottawa, Kathy Smith, Olathe, Carolyn White and James Hall, Edgerton; one son, Leonard Shuck and his wife Dee Ann, Ottawa; one sister, Beverly Cates and her husband Richard, Lawrence; two brothers, Emmett Kring, Kansas City, Dale Kring and his wife Wanda, Lawrence; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister-in-law, Lorene Kring, Topeka, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James Milton Kring and one sister, Lynette Martin.

Burial was at Sutton Cemetery, Douglas County. Memorials may be made to Ottawa American Legion Baseball and sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family at dengelmortuary@sbcglobal.net.
