Smith tops century mark

Martha Smith turned 100 years old last Thursday. But, it was just another day. “Yes, but a special one,” said Smith. That’s what happens when someone has been through roughly 36,500 days. Just another day. And, the standard question, how does it feel to be 100? “No different,” she said. Her secret to living 100 years? She really doesn’t have one. “Well, I’ve always thought just keep on keeping on,” Smith said. That’s a lot of keeping on. She does admit to eating plenty of fruits and vegetables over the years and as a long-time farm girl, there was plenty of exercise. Now that consists of walking around two blocks every day and time spent in the garden.

BHS tennis squad endures elite tournament

The Baldwin High School girls’ tennis team continued its season this week amid sultry conditions and many obstacles. Despite the slightly unfavorable circumstances, the girls managed to compete successfully.
Boys struggle at Rim Rock, place 21st

The Baldwin High School boys’ cross country team stepped off the bus Saturday to face teams from nine different states at the infamous Rim Rock Farm. The race was fierce in the Gold Division which consisted of the toughest competition around.

The Rim Rock cross country course couldn’t contain the Baldwin High School varsity girls’ cross country team as it proved to be the best Kansas team amongst nine competing states and 2,500 athletes.

WELLSVILLE — Three interceptions, two botched punts and one fumble recovery helped the Baldwin High School football team defeat rival Wellsville 34-6 Friday night.
BHS soccer wins two-in-a-row

Baldwin High School junior Grant Schenewerk headed in a goal late in the game to help the BHS soccer team defeat Gardner 4-2 Tuesday at home to collect its second win in two days.
