Legion to host

potluck supper

Lloyd Beaton Post and Auxiliary Unit No. 228 will host a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Legion Hall, 803 High St.. Those who attended Boys and Girls State will be in attendance.

Teen Challenge

to have benefit ride

Teen Challenge members have scheduled a 1,500 mile motorcycle trip in an attempt to raise $30,000 for their organization.

They will leave Baldwin City Aug. 6 and return Aug. 12. The first stop will be at Francis, Kan., then to Belle Fourche, S.D., to Orange City, Iowa, and back to Baldwin City. They are accepting per mile pledges or a donation.

Heart of America Teen Challenge is a not-for-profit organization that works with men 16 years of age and older. Anyone interested in supporting the Ride for Freedom can contact Adam Halford at 594-3069.

Bible Studies set

at Baptist Temple

Bible Studies and kids' programs are available at 6 p.m. Sundays at Lighthouse Baptist Temple and at 7 p.m. Wednesday nights. Certified nursery attendants will be available to care for children both times.

The choir is meeting at 8 p.m. on Sunday nights. Community members are welcome to attend Bible Studies and Choir.

Cancer society needing

volunteer drivers

The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers to drive cancer patients to receive treatment.

A training program for volunteer drivers will be from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 3, at the American Cancer Society, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead Rd., Topeka. For additional information or to register to attend the training, call (800) 359-1025.

Parenting support

group to meet

A support group that provides assistance to parents, grandparents and others raising children meets from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. the first Sunday of each month at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2700 N. Lawrence Ave, Lawrence. Contact Valerie at (785) 841-2488.

Lighthouse Temple

hosts dinner

Lighthouse Baptist Temple has a potluck dinner the last Sunday of each month following Sunday worship services. Everyone is welcome.
