Book TALK to offer
Friends of Baldwin City Library will sponsor the next Book TALK beginning at 7 p.m. Jan. 13 at the library. The new series is "That's Funny: Books That Make Us Laugh." The first book in the series of three is "I'm A Stranger Here Myself" by Bill Bryson. Bryson writes about what modern America looks like to an American newly returned after 20 years in England.
Tom Prasch will be discussion leader. Prasch teaches history at Washburn University.
Books are available for check out at the library. Members of the community are welcome to participate in the free program. The series is sponsored by Friends of the Baldwin City Library and the Kansas Humanities Council. The other two books in the series are "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash" by Jean Shepherd on Feb. 10 and "Mama Makes Up Her Mind" by Bailey White on March 10.
BHS Alumni should
The Baldwin High School Alumni Banquet will be Saturday, May 7, 2005. The banquet is held the Saturday before Mother's Day each year. Mark your calendar.
RWD No. 4 to
Rural Water District No. 4, Douglas County, will have its regular meeting beginning at 7 p.m., Tuesday, in the conference room of the district office.
The Annual Meeting of Participating Members will be held at 7 p.m. January 18 at the Vinland Grade School Multipurpose Building.
Clearfield -- Ives youth
The Clearfield - Ives Chapel United Methodist Youth Ministry will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Clearfield UM Church. Youth sixth through 12th grades are invited.
