set for Friday evening

The Baldwin High School football team will be holding its equipment checkout Friday evening at BHS.
The seniors will begin checking out at 5 p.m. The juniors will begin at 5:30 p.m. The sophomores will begin at 6 p.m. and the freshman start at 6:30 p.m.

Anyone wanting to attend a Kansas City T-Bones game without having to deal with the hassel of driving to the stadium now has the chance to go to a game.
The Ottawa Recreation Commission is offering a package deal for anyone interested in going to the T-Bones game against the Sioux City Explorers at 7:05 p.m. on Aug. 16.
A bus will leave at 5 p.m. from the ORC parking lot and the package deal includes a bus ride, reserve seat and a buffet style barbecue style dinner.
Tickets are on a first come, first serve basis. To reserve a seat contact the ORC at 785-242-1939 for pricing information. A payment must accompany reservations.
Phenix teams holding
annual tryouts Aug. 13
The Lawrence Phenix Fastpitch softball team will have its 2006 season tryouts Aug. 13 at the softball field at Haskell Indian Nations University, located 23rd and Learnard streets in Lawrence.
Registration for the 10-and-under group is at 7:45 a.m., with tryouts from 8 to 10 a.m.
Registration for the 12-and-under age group is at 9:45 a.m., with tryouts from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Registration for the 14-and-under division is at noon, with tryouts from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m.
Registration for the 16- and 18-and-under age groups are at 1:45 p.m., with tryouts from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Pitchers and catchers are asked to plan to stay 30 minutes after their tryouts.
