Signal changes publication day starting next week
This is the last Wednesday Baldwin City Signal. Starting next week, the Signal will be published on Thursdays.
"We've had tremendous response from our readers about the change," said Jeff Myrick, Signal editor/publisher. "Everyone seems enthusiastic about the switch. I know we are.
"It will give us another day's worth of news and advertising to provide our readers," said Myrick. "It will make a strong newspaper even stronger."
The change in publication dates brings new deadlines. Starting this week, there will no longer be Friday deadlines. Space reservations for advertising will now be due by Monday at 3 p.m. Deadline for classified advertising will now be Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The biggest change will be on news deadlines. Instead of a Friday deadline, news items will now be accepted through 5 p.m. Tuesday. That gives another four full days for news.
"We'll be able to get more news and sports in each week, both with stories and pictures," he said. "It will give us more time to get additional items in the Signal each week. We're looking forward to it.
"Everyone will have to adjust their routines, especially us, but it will be well worth it," Myrick said. "Readers have been anxious for Wednesdays ever since we started publishing five years ago. Now that will be Thursdays, with even more in the Signal each week."
People can call the Signal at 594-7080 with any questions regarding the switch.
