The Clearfield - Ives Chapel UMY will meet at 7 p.m. on Wed., Jan. 28 at Clearfield UM Church. Youth sixth through 12th grades are invited.

After Prom Committee

plans meeting

The first meeting of the BHS After Prom Committee will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 at the high school cafeteria. Contact Kim Hubbel at 594-3711 with questions, suggestions and offerings of help in the planning of a safe and fun after prom party for students.

Rodrock obtains

sports certification

Jeremy Rodrock has obtained the postgraduate designation of Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. The instruction is specific to physical fitness and the evaluation and treatment of injuries encountered in sports. The doctor must take and successfully pass a comprehensive written examination. The accreditation exists to provide a uniform standard of education that assures teams and athletes that the doctor has met a minimum level of competency in chiropractic sports medicine. Rodrock joins more than 3,500 others internationally who hold this designation.

Hestia Study Club

has meeting

Hestia Study Club met at the home of Marlene Courtney with Loretta Robson as co-hostess. Roll call was answered by "a book I recommend." Minutes and reports were read. New business and old business were discussed. Members donated cookies to the Veterans Hospital. Jeanne Scott gave a book review on "All But My Life" by Gerda Weisman Klein.

Seniors can gather

for potluck and cards

Senior citizens can get together the first and third Fridays of the month to have a potluck and play cards at the senior center. The potluck begins at 6 p.m. and the card playing follows at 7 p.m.

Kids Care Club set

at volunteer center

The Roger Hill Volunteer Center will host the next Kids Care Club event from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the United Way building, 2518 Ridge Court. Elementary school age children and their families will be creating dental care kits and dental valentines for distribution to pediatric patients of the Douglas County Dental Clinic. Each child attending is asked to bring a tube of toothpaste as a donation for the dental care kits. Parents should call to register at (785) 865-5030.

LHS to present Shaw's

play 'Pygmalion'

Lawrence High School will present George Bernard Shaw's play "Pygmalion" at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 29, 30 and 31, in the LHS main auditorium, 1901 Louisiana St., Lawrence. More than 25 actors will be performing in full Edwardian costume and with appropriate British accents. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Lawrence Arts Center

to host Souper Bowl

The seventh annual Souper Bowl Saturday will start at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire. Local artists and businesses have donated handmade ceramic bowls to sell for $10 each. The price includes a lunch of soup, bread and a beverage. There will be more than 400 bowls to choose from. Proceeds support the center's education program.
