The Baldwin High School Bulldog wrestling squad beat the Wellsville Eagles 78-0 Thursday at Wellsville.
The Eagles had nine forfeits and Baldwin won the matches that were wrestled. The only weight classes that had matches were the 103-pound, 119-pound, 135-pound, 171-pound, and the 275-pound weight classes.
The wrestlers that captured this victory in Thursday's dual were Mark Jehle (103) who won 12-7; Joe Bonner (119) won his match 8-5; Josh Kohn (135) pinned his man in 53 seconds; Nick Goldring (171); pinned his man in two minutes and 39 seconds; and Adam Canterbury (275) who pinned his man in 27 seconds.
Nick Goldring filled in for regular Kyle Flory at 171 pounds and recorded his first varsity win by fall.
"It was good to see Nick Goldring step in on varsity and get a fall in his first varsity match," said coach Kit Harris. "Also, Mark Jehle had a great win over a kid ranked in 3-2-1A."
"It feels like this year has had a slower start, but I think things are starting to turn around the second half of this season," said Flory, a senior who is 14-3 as the starting 171 pounder.
The win over the Eagles put the Bulldogs overall dual record at 3-3 and their league dual record at 1-0. The Bulldog's next dual will be the "Pack the House" dual against Burlington on Thursday at BHS starting at 5 p.m.
"We would like to see a big crowd come out to watch our team in the Pack the House dual against Burlington on Thursday," said Harris. "It should be an exciting dual. Burlington has a good squad and they always make for an exciting dual."
