Rural Water District No. 4, Douglas County, will have its regular meeting beginning at 7 p.m., Tuesday, in the conference room of the district office.

Evening Circle to

gather for meeting

The Evening Circle of Ives Chapel UMW will meet at 7:15 p.m. Jan.14 in Fellowship Hall. Kathleen Winkleman is hostess. Devotions will be led by Sheryl Chavez and Cathy Gilges. The program will be planning the year's projects and programs, led by Gail Guenther, 2004 chairperson.

Clearfield--Ives youth

The Clearfield-Ives Chapel UMY will meet at 7 p.m. Wed., Jan. 14 at Clearfield UM Church. Youth sixth through 12th grade are invited.

God's Musketeers

to attend retreat

God's Musketeers UMY have an opportunity to attend a spiritual retreat at Camp Chippewa near Ottawa. The event is for senior high youth and runs from Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m. to Jan. 25 at 11:30 a.m.

Pioneers 4-H Club

reports meeting

Pioneers 4-H Club met at the Legion Hall in Baldwin City for dinner. Kalli Keen brought the meeting to order. The Lawn and Garden Show will be March 12 at the community building. After the dinner, club members made cookie plates and went caroling. The January meeting will be at the Wilson home.

Former Baldwin resident

named to honor roll

Lacey Snorgrass, Tecumseh, Mo., formerly of Baldwin City, was named to the Dean's Honor Roll for the 2003 fall semester at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Miami, Okla. She just completed an Associates of Applied Science in Farm and Ranch Management and will graduate in May, 2004, from NEO with an Associates of Science in Agriculture. She is the daughter of Les Snorgrass, Tecumseh, Mo., and Debra Snorgrass, Dora, Mo.

Extension office

schedules seminar

K-State Research and Extension has scheduled seminars to discuss landowner/tenant leasing. The seminars will be Jan. 15 at three different times. The seminars will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Douglas County Extension Office at 2110 Harper in Lawrence; 2 to 4 p.m. at the Wyandotte County Fairgrounds, 1405 N. 98th, KC, Kan. (3/4 mile east of the Kansas Speedway); and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds in Tonganoxie. For more information, contact the extension office at (785) 843-7058.

Frei to speak on

detecting seizures

Dr. Mark Frei will speak on "Applying mathematics and engineering to detect and treat epileptic seizures" at 7 p.m. Jan. 12, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital on the lower level. The public is invited. There is no admission charge.

Ives Chapel hosts

Bible study class

A Bible study will be held at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church on Jan. 21 and 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. The study of Exodus will be led by Pastor Kathy Symes. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'

to be performed Saturday

Join the Baldwin City Community Theatre Saturday at 7 p.m. Saturday for the youth production of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" in the Baldwin Junior High Auditorium. The play showcases the talents of 30 community youth ranging in grades K-8. Tickets are available at the door for $5 adults and $3 students age 12 and under.
