Elections loom for school board, council

December 16, 2004

Just when you thought it was safe, that the election was finally over, there's more. School Board and City Council elections are scheduled for April 5 and there are numerous openings.

Supt. James White informed the board about the elections at Monday night's meeting. Positions open on the board are those currently held by Lonnie Broers, Chip Hornberger, Ed Schulte and Ande Parks.

Those are the positions that are open," said White. "This information came from the county clerk. You have until Jan. 25 at noon to sign-up."

Broers' position is a two-year term, while the other three positions are four-year terms.

Other dates of note include Feb. 14 as the last day to register to vote in the primary, which will be March 1 if there are enough candidates to warrant it. March 21 is the last day to register to vote in the general election, which will be April 5.

For Baldwin City, Mayor Ken Hayes and council members Ken Wagner and Amy Cleavinger are up for re-election.
