U.S. District Court Judge Carlos Murguia granted the City of Baldwin City’s request for summary judgment regarding lawsuits filed by former and current police officers and dismissed the case last week.

Sydney Clem seems to be easing into kindergarten with relatively few problems. In fact, the 5-year-old appears to be right at home in her class at Baldwin Elementary School Primary Center though she’s only just completed her first week of school. “She’s very comfortable,” Dana Clem, Sydney’s mother, said. “She just walks right in. She thinks she owns the place.” Ask Sydney what she thinks about school and she’ll flash a smile before telling you it’s fun.

Baker football gearing up for opener

There’s been plenty of excitement during first-year Baker University football coach Mike Grossner’s opening camp. There’s been weather, a scrimmage, regular practice and more than a few bumps and bruises. “Barring tornadoes and rain, we’ll continue on,” Grossner said in reference to Monday and Tuesday’s wild weather. “The last couple of days have been an experience for a Phoneix kid.
