Bulldog baseball sweeps Spring Hill
On Monday, the Baldwin High School Bulldog baseball team took on yet another challenge as the Spring Hill Broncos rolled into the lot for a double header, only to leave having been swept by the BHS squad.
In game one, Baldwin won 10-5 with the big players of the game being senior Grant Meisenheimer with three hits and two runs. He also pitched a complete game, allowing only five hits and striking out 10 batters. Senior Andy Hannon was 2-for-4, driving in a pair of runs and scoring one run also. B.T. Turk also had two RBI.
"We played a complete game," said coach Brian Ash. "Our pitching was outstanding, we hit the ball well and played tremendous defense. Grant pitched the best game of his career here at Baldwin. I am excited for him with the effort he gave us today."
Game two made for more of a nailbiter with the final score being 10-8, after a huge scoring fourth inning with Spring Hill scoring five runs in the top and the Bulldogs scoring seven to answer in the bottom. Hannon had three RBI and senior Micah Mason had two. Sophomore Cory Wright was the winning pitcher and also went 2-for-4 at the plate. Junior Scott Johnson went 2-for-2.
"Other than one big offensive inning for both teams, it was a well pitched and a well played game. I am proud of how we answered with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning after Spring Hill put up five runs in the top half," said coach Ash. "We were finally able to put two complete games together for the first time all year."
BHS also played on Tuesday, but results weren't available at press time.
