Baldwin has a new bar and grill in town.

Puckett's Bar and Grill opened nearly two weeks ago in the S and J Catering building, 309 Ames St.

Owner Trent Puckett said he was looking forward to running the establishment in Baldwin.

"I've always wanted to run my own business and own a bar," he said.

JoAnn Arnold, who runs S and J Catering, owns the building and is leasing it to Puckett. She said she will continue running her catering business from the building.

"I decided I didn't have time to continue what I was doing, and Trent was looking for a place," she said. "So far it's worked real well."

Puckett's will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. A full menu will be served from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and will include daily lunch specials.

Puckett's will continue the building's tradition of serving Chester Fried Chicken.

"I had a bunch of people ask me if we were going to do chicken," he said. "So I decided to do it."

In addition to the food and drink, the bar and grill features two pool tables and a dart board that are available for patrons, and Puckett said he hopes to provide live entertainment in the future.
