JEAN MARIE FLOERSCH
Funeral Mass for Jean Marie Floersch, 72, Ottawa, was Aug. 23, 2003, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa. Mrs. Floersch died August 19, 2003, at her home.
She was born Sept. 19,1930, at Emerald, the daughter of Emmett and Mary (Bauer) McGrath. She grew up on a farm in Delia and moved to Ottawa in 1959. She taught five years in Jackson and Wabaunsee counties.
She married Mathias Floersch at Delia, June 5, 1952. He survives of the home.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa, and the Sacred Heart Altar Society.
Survivors include her husband, two sons, Jim Floersch, Eudora, and Mathias Floersch, Nashville, Tenn.; four daughters, Bernice Altenhofen, Junction City; Frances Falk, Robinson; Jean Frank, Colony, and Janice McPherson, Silver Springs, Md.; 23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert McGrath, a sister, Francis McGrath and a grandson, Matthew Floersch.
Burial was at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Midland Hospice and sent in care of Dengel and Son Mortuary.
Funeral services for Lynn I. McKenzie, 72, Oskaloosa, and formerly Lawrence, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence. Mr. McKenzie died August 29, 2003, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City.
He was born Nov. 21, 1931, at Leavenworth, the son of Howard Neely and Wilma (Nabb) McKenzie. He graduated from Lecompton High School in 1949.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Upon returning from the Air Force, he worked as a postal clerk in Lawrence until 1965. He was a longtime member of the Neita & the Drifters Band. He continued playing the guitar for various groups in Baldwin City, Oskaloosa and the Lawrence area for many years.
He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Lawrence.
He married Oleta Lou Gentry on Dec. 19, 1953. She died June 23, 1996.
Survivors include one son, Randy L. McKenzie, Lawrence; three daughters, Nancy L. Novak, Kenya, East Africa, Sandra K. Kuenkel, Liberty Township, Ohio, and Catherine S. Ison, Lawrence; three sisters, Patricia Hamby and Eleanor Ray, both of Lawrence, and Rita Cooksey, Kansas City, Mo., and eight grandchildren.
One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
