One state championship is good, two is better, at three a dynasty is building, but six is phenomenal. The Baldwin High School boys cross country team accomplished the unthinkable Saturday at the Class 4A state championships at Wamego, bringing home its sixth straight, seventh overall, state title.

The Baldwin High School girls cross country team has started a streak of it’s own. Saturday, Baldwin won its second straight state Class 4A title in outstanding fashion.

It may be taking a few days, but slowly but surely the Baldwin High School volleyball team is realizing what kind of season it had. The Bulldogs went 4-1 at the Class 4A state championships in Salina, but lost a heart breaker to Goodland for the state title Saturday afternoon.

Red proved to be a popular color last week at Baldwin High School. The entire week marked the annual Kansas Red Ribbon Campaign, a statewide drug prevention program.
Food Network tapes segment for show at Vintage Park

Vintage Park had the bright lights and cameras from a national television show brighten up the place last Tuesday when the Food Network added a Baldwin stop onto its agenda from filming Lawrence restaurants.

The review of a challenged book is now underway. A committee comprised of seven Baldwin school district faculty and patrons met for the first time Monday to begin the review process of Robert Cormier’s “We All Fall Down.”

For the Baldwin High School cross country teams, it’s a matter of finding competition from within. Both the boys and girls repeated their Class 4A championships at Wamego Saturday, but who really won? Well, it was the boys — but that’s for the chow line only. The Bulldog boys won their sixth straight state title, while the girls came up with their second. But, as this BHS dynasty continues to grow, its gone beyond just winning team championships. “The boys and girls have come up with a contest for who can score the fewest points,” said coach Mike Spielman. “The winner gets to eat first.”

It’s high school football playoff time and the Baldwin High School Bulldogs showed they were ready by polishing off the Perry-Lecompton Kaws 42-14 Thursday in the last district game to wrap up the regular season with a 7-2 record.

This time Baldwin High School made it count with a dominating 43-18 victory over the Eudora Cardinals Tuesday night in the first round of the state playoffs. “This was a big win,” said coach Mike Berg. “We’re taking the next step.”
