Error caused power outage
A Kansas City Power and Light error left Baldwin without electricity for a short time last week.
Baldwin Utility Director Terry McKinney said Baldwin lost electricity for less than a minute around 10:40 a.m. last Wednesday when KCPL opened a wrong switch.
"It's part of the new work KCPL is doing for the city," McKinney said. "They just called it a switching error."
He said KCPL realized the mistake and quickly fixed the problem. Baldwin was left without electricity for only 30 to 45 seconds.
KCPL is currently in the process of building a new line from Ottawa to Baldwin. Once the line is complete, Baldwin will have two feeds going into the city, instead of just the one feed from Gardner.
