BJHS boys teams finish second
On May 2, the Baldwin Junior High School boys track team wrapped up its season with the league track meet in Wellsville. The seventh and eighth grade teams each finished second.
"I am pleased with the progress of the young men on the seventh and eighth track team," said head coach Bench Currie. "Many of them continued to make and break personal records throughout the year."
This was made clear with seventh grader Chase Abel's first place finish in the 100-meter dash. Another seventh grade first-place finisher was Gabe Mason in the long jump.
"I would like to see the seventh graders improve by lifting weights and participating in other sports," said Currie. "We need more track athletes."
Eighth grade first-place finishers include Aaron Mills in the 200-meter dash and long jump, Chris Elniff in the mile and the 4x200-meter relay team.
"It would have been great for both boys' teams to win first, but I am pleased that both groups stepped up to the challenge and placed second out of 10 teams," said Currie. "That is a huge accomplishment. Many athletes refused to get beat."
