School board discusses open lunch possibility

Baldwin High School students will have to continue going to the cafeteria for lunch — at least for now. The Baldwin Board of Education discussed students’ request for open lunch on a trial basis at Monday’s meeting, deciding against making a decision until it saw a written proposal outlining the open lunch trial and addressing some of the board members’ concerns.
Camera system approved for BHS

The Baldwin High School will soon be under surveillance. The Baldwin Board of Education approved in a 5-1 vote the purchase of a nine-camera security system from Swain Electrical Controls for $13,255. Board Member Linda Rogers voted against the motion and Board Member Curtis Trarbach abstained.
Flying high
10-year-old soars in motocross competitions

He’s not yet old enough to have a driver’s license, but that doesn’t stop 10-year-old Keeton Gorton from competing in motocross competitions. In fact, the Baldwin Elementary School fourth grader has been competing in motocross since he was 6 years old when he became interested in it because his friend, Jove Mortenson, was racing at the time. It also helped that his dad, Vic, had competed when he was younger as well.
Bulldogs rally, but come up short in finale

A second-half rally by the Baldwin High School Bulldogs fell short Thursday in the Class 4A Sub-state Tournament in Spring Hill. Eudora held on for a 50-44 win to end BHS’s season.
