Funeral services for Lovia M. Randel, 87, Baldwin City, were Saturday at the Vinland Church of Christ, Vinland. Mrs. Randel died May 24, 2003, at the Elko Hospital, Elko, Nev.

She was born April 26, 1916, the daughter of James Leroy and Viola May (Buchanan) Dey. She graduated from Harmony Grade School, northeast of Vinland, and later from Vinland High School.

She married Montie Randel July 29, 1936, at Great Bend. He died in 1983.

She worked as an operator for the United Telephone Company in Baldwin City during the late 1950s and for Baker University as a switchboard operator.

Survivors include three sons, Montie Duane Randel and his wife, Alice, Baldwin City; Laurence "Larry" Randel and his wife, Carolee, Baldwin City, and Stanley Randel and his wife, Cathy, Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Jane McMichell and her husband, Alva, Elko, Nev.; one sister, Isabelle Bosworth, Baldwin City; 18 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Bernard Joe Randel, one brother, Doran Dey and two grandsons, Montie McMichell and Randel McMichell.

Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery, Baldwin City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Montie McMichell Memorial Fund and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
