Evening Circle of Ives

Chapel to gather

The Evening Circle of Ives Chapel UMW will meet tonight at 7:15 in Fellowship Hall. Gail Guenther is hostess, program and devotion leader. The 2003 pledge service will be held.

Knights of Columbus

sponsor fish fry/Bingo

Knights of Columbus will sponsor a fish fry at Annunciation Catholic Church Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Bingo will begin on Jan. 14 at the church starting at 6:30 p.m.

Lawrence African

Violet Club to meet

The Lawrence African Violet Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the home of Marilyn Hatch. Co-hosts will be Mary and David Born. For more information, call (785) 843-2257.

RWD No. 4 to

meet Tuesday

Rural Water District No. 4, Douglas County, will have its regular meeting beginning at 7 p.m., Tuesday, in the conference room of the district office.

The annual meeting of participating members will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 22 at Vinland Elementary School in the multipurpose room.

All church dinner

to be at FUMC

The Baldwin First United Methodist Church will host its All Church Holiday Dinner on Sunday, Jan. 19 immediately following worship services. As an outreach ministry, meals will also be delivered to those who are homebound. To have a meal delivered, please call Anita Neuenswander or Ruth Ann Nutt.

Special treat baked

at Vintage Park

Persimmon pudding was a special Christmas treat at Vintage Park. The pudding was put together by Twilla Eisele and baked by Karla Kraushaar, head cook at Vintage Park. Erna Holmes, resident, commented, "When I was a child, my daddy had a big persimmon tree and I loved persimmon pudding. I haven't had any for a long time."

Ives Chapel UMW

meets for luncheon

Ives Chapel United Methodist Women will gather Jan.15 for a noon luncheon and business meeting. Jeroldene Martin will lead the program. The 2003 Pledge Service will be held. Dolores Kalb is hostess.

Palmyra 4-H Club

has meeting

The Palmyra 4-H Club meeting was called to order by Lindsey Hitchcock, president. Roll call was answered by favorite snow activities. Ramie and Hunter Burkhart presented a project talk on dairy goats. Cassidy Burkhart gave a talk on clothing. Sam Huntington demonstrated how to pin a bug for entomology. Potpourri jar decorations were made. Members donated items for Toys for Tots in Douglas County. The next meeting is today at Ives Chapel.

Luncheon planned

following services

A soup and chili luncheon will be served following worship services on Jan. 19 at Ives Chapel UMC. A sign-up sheet will be available. A brief meeting of committees will follow the meal to select chairpersons.

ESU announces

fall honor roll

Emporia State University has released its list of students named to the honor roll for the Fall 2002 semester. Students in the top 10 percent of their class were eligible. From the Baldwin City area were Natalie Moreau, junior, and Christopher Rose, senior.
