MARIE MAE MILLER
Funeral services for Marie Mae Miller, 87, Baldwin City, were Friday at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, Baldwin City. Mrs. Miller died Feb. 4, 2003, at Baldwin Care Center.
She was born July 15, 1915, at Elida, Ohio, the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth (Williams) Lloyd. She attended school in the Elida area.
She married Jesse Edward Miller July 15, 1933, at Elida, Ohio. He died Jan. 31, 1995.
She was a lifelong resident of Elida, Ohio, until moving to Baldwin City three and a half years ago. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Allentown, Ohio.
She is survived by one son, Robert Miller and his wife, Shirley, Baldwin City; one daughter, Mary Ann England and her husband, Charles, Broken Arrow, Okla.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and three brothers.
Burial was at Elida, Ohio, and handled by Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphus, Ohio. Memorials may be made to Baldwin Care Center and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, PO Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
FRED EARNEST GOTTSTEIN
Funeral services for Fred Earnest Gottstein, 95, Baldwin City, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Vinland Church of Christ, Vinland. Mr. Gottstein died Feb. 10, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 16, 1907, near Eudora, to John and Martha (Deay) Gottstein. He graduated from Vinland High School and spent his life farming in the Vinland Valley. He received the Banker's Soil Conservation Award in 1972.
He served as treasurer for the Vinland Grange and helped organize the Vinland Fair. He was a member of the Vinland Church of Christ. He was a well-known dowser, locating hundreds of wells in the area.
He married Bernice E. Holmes April 23, 1930, in Lawrence. She survives.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, Baldwin City. Burial will be at Vinland Cemetery.
