BHS wrestlers keep perfect league record

February 12, 2003

Once again, it has come down to the final wrestling dual of the season as the Baldwin High School Bulldogs (7-0 in league), the Paola Panthers (6-0) and the Eudora Cardinals (6-1) battle it out for the honor of being named the Frontier League champions.

Action will start at 5 p.m. Thursday with Eudora vs. Paola, Baldwin will then take on Paola around 6:30 p.m., followed by the

final dual of Eudora vs. Baldwin. Last year, Baldwin was in the same

situation and defeated Eudora but fell to Paola by a 39-27 margin as the Panthers won their third straight league title.

The Eudora Booster Club is putting on a "Raise the Roof" Night for the night's activities, including a barbecue feed before the wrestling begins for only $2 per person.

Baldwin has not won a league title since 1976 and has not defeated Paola since 1989, which was coach Kit Harris' junior year on a Bulldog team that went 12-1.

The Bulldogs are currently 15-4 overall in duals on the year. The Frontier League tournament will be held on Saturday at Paola, starting at 8:30 a.m.
