Baker teams fall to MidAmerica

Both Baker University basketball teams fell to MidAmerica Nazarene Thursday in the Collins Gym. The Baker men dropped a 70-55 contest, while the women made it closer in a 68-61 loss.
In the mens game, Baker played even with Mid America in the second half 33-33, but couldn't make up the deficit from a 37-22 first half. Cold shooting doomed the Wildcats as they were 32 percent from the floor, 21 percent from 3-point land and 61 percent from the free throw line.
Pedro Dos Santos was the lone Wildcat in double figures with 18 points. Dos Santos also had seven rebounds, as did Ivica Simac.
The loss dropped Baker's record to 12-11 overall and 5-6 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. Next action for the Wildcats is Thursday at home against Central Methodist at 7:30 p.m.
In the womens contest, Baker fell behind 42-32 in the first half. The Cats rebounded for a 29-26 advantage in the second half, but it wasn't enough.
Gayla Brown had 13 points and Tasha Gentry 12 to lead the Wildcats. Brown also had eight rebounds, as did Gretchen Schroeder.
The loss put the Wildcat overall record at 14-10 and they fell to 8-5 in HAAC play. They also play host to Central Methodist Thursday with a 5 p.m. tip-off in Collins Gym.
