IDA CHRISTINE HORNBERGER

Funeral services for Ida Christine Hornberger, 87, Worden, were Saturday at St. John's United Church of Christ, Worden. Mrs. Hornberger died Dec. 22, 2003, at Lawrence.

She was born April 18,1916, at Perry, Okla., the daughter of Julius and Ida (Gastrock) Ziesch. The family moved to Baldwin City where she attended school.

She married Julius Hornberger April14,1940, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Worden. He survives. She was a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. John's United Church of Christ, the Baldwin City Garden Club and the Lawrence Autumn Club.

Survivors include her husband, one son, Julian Hornberger and his wife, Karon, Lawrence; one daughter, Joyce McEvoy, Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Frieda Primm and her husband, Carl, Olathe; one brother, Arthur Ziesch and his wife, Viva, Baldwin City; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ernest, Herman and Harold Ziesch and one granddaughter, Debbi Heide.

Burial was at St. John's Cemetery, Worden. Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or Evangelical Children's Home and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.

EUGENE RAY EMERY

Memorial services for Eugene Ray Emery, 72, Kansas City, were Monday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin City. Mr. Emery died Dec. 24, 2003, at his home.

He was born May 13,1931, at Baldwin City, the son of Jesse and Verdia (Truex) Emery. He attended Baldwin schools. He was employed by Pyramid Life Company from which he retired. He worked at Uni-Guard Security after his retirement.

He married Dorothy Carpenter July 18,1957, at Kansas City, Mo. She died Nov. 5, 2003. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include five sons, Robert E. Emery, Kansas City, Mo.; Richard H. Emery, Overland Park; Randall L. Emery, Kansas City; Jessie R. Emery and Harold W. Emery, both of Texas; one brother, Gary Emery, Baldwin City, and one sister, Maxine Emery, Texas.

His parents and one brother, Oscar Emery, preceded him in death.

Mr. Emery was cremated. Inurnment was at Prairie City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ives Chapel United Methodist Church and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
