Tour to showcase homes
If you've ever wondered what the inside of someone's house looks like, this weekend is your chance to possibly satisfy your curiosity.
The sixth Baldwin City Chamber of Commerce holiday homes tour, sponsored by Stephens Real Estate, is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
"This is a good chance to visit other people's homes," Debbie Morgan of Stephens said. "People are always real interested in seeing what people's homes are like."
The four houses featured on the tour, which will all be decorated for the holidays, belong to Wes and Judy Irvine, 601 Lawrence St., Heather and Matt Brungardt, 1571 N. 400 Road, Christy and Boyd Lund, 304 Flame Way, and Krystal and Jim Williams, 1217 Elm St. The homes will be identified Sunday by holiday home tour signs.
But Morgan said the homes tour isn't just about seeing festive-looking houses.
"I think it's more of a time for fellowship," she said. "It's a good chance to visit with others."
Those attending the tour will also have a chance to register for a $25 gift certificate from Discoveries.
Tickets for the home tour are $8 and can be purchased at the chamber of commerce, Stephens, Baldwin State Bank, Discoveries, C. Designs Floral and Garden or at the homes the day of the tour.
Morgan said the money from ticket sales will go to the chamber of commerce to be used for downtown beautification. She said the money raised from previous home tours were used to purchase holiday decorations for the chamber of commerce building and flowers for the downtown flower pots.
She said home tours are always a popular event in towns, especially around the holiday season. She encouraged people to take advantage of the local home tour.
"It's a real relaxed event," she said. "It's just a fun time."
