Workers needed at

Vinland fairgrounds

A workday has been scheduled to clean and prepare for the Living Nativity at the Vinland fairgrounds. The workday will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. Anyone who would like to help is welcome to attend. Volunteers to portray the holy family and shepherds are needed for the Living Nativity. Call Jean Moore for more information, 594-3568.

Lighthouse Temple to

assist food pantry

Members of Lighthouse Baptist Temple will collect canned goods door to door from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday to help the local food pantry replenish supplies. There will also be a box at the Lighthouse Baptist Temple located at Sixth and Baker streets.

Opera Kadopera to

perform in Baldwin

"Amahl and the Night Visitors" will be presented by a new touring group named Opera Kadopera at 7 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church. The production is suitable for all ages and admission is free.

Ives Chapel to have

Christmas program

Ives Chapel United Methodist Church will present its Christmas program at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21. A fellowship time will follow the program and a special guest is expected to arrive to visit the children.

Rural-Urban Issue

Forum scheduled

"Urban Growth and Land Changes in Douglas County, Tools to Help Shape Our Future" will be the next Rural-Urban Issue Forum to be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Deal Six Auditorium in the Extension Office. It is free and open to the public. Colorado State University Associate Professor and Extension Specialist in Public Policy Andy Seidl will be the speaker. ECKAN Agency to

distribute food items

The ECKAN Agency will distribute food items to eligible Douglas County commodity participants from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Dec. 18 at the Legion Hall. The date is changed due to the holidays.

Ives Chapel UMW

meet for luncheon

The Ives Chapel United Methodist Women will meet at noon at Black Jack Diner for lunch on Dec. 17. A brief meeting will follow at Fellowship Hall and cheer boxes will be distributed. Dolores Kalb will present the program. Everyone is welcome.

BCCT to present

children's workshop

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is next on the stage for the Baldwin City Community Theatre. This Winter Children's Workshop will be casting from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Baldwin Junior High auditorium. Rehearsals will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 20-23 and 27-30 and Jan. 1-9. The performance will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at BJHS. To participate students will pay $25 and receive a t-shirt and snacks for each rehearsal. Palmyra 4-H Club

has meeting

The Palmyra 4-H Club met at Ives Chapel for the achievement pot luck and then the meeting. Several awards were presented. A card was sent to Sharon at the extension office for her retirement. The meeting ended with the club's pledge and motto.

Pioneers 4-H Club

reports meeting

Kalli Keen, president, called the Pioneers 4-H club meeting to order. Roll call was answered by your middle name. There will be a livestock extravaganza Dec. 30 at the fairgrounds and a judging expo Jan. 3 at the community building. The Christmas party is Dec. 20. Entry forms for club days Feb. 20 at Eudora are due Jan. 9. The December meeting will be at the Legion Hall in Baldwin City for a pot luck and caroling.
