Art Walk to feature area fiber guild
Fiber will be the feature attraction at Friday's Art Walk.
The Kaw Valley Fiber Guild will be on hand at the third Baldwin Community Arts Council Art Walk this summer displaying a number of fiber-made items. This will be the first time KVFG has been featured at the Art Walk.
"We try to feature visiting artists from a nearby guild every year," Laura Morford, BCAC president, said.
Many of the artists, which are comprised of weavers, knitters and basket makers, are Baldwin area artists including Judy Foye, Vera Gannaway and Cindy Maroney.
But Friday's Art Walk, which runs from 7 to 9 p.m. in downtown Baldwin, will feature more than just fiber artists. Photography, watercolors, pottery and other art media will be on display on the downtown sidewalks, as well as in downtown businesses including Espress Yourself, Hedges Realty, Art Affair and the Signal.
Artists who will have work on display include Mary Mitchell, Linda Everett, Sandy Cardens, Kay McCune, Cindy Novelo, Phyllis Nelson, Laura Morford, Gerard Arantowicz, Ina Benz, Rick Daugherty, Edwin Smith and Lisa Slavin.
For the third year, Christy Carlisle will have pottery making demonstrations in front of the Signal office during the Art Walk.
The local Scottish musical group, Cloddy Broons, will also be performing during Art Walk near the Chamber of Commerce building. The group Ludington Thatchers will be performing in Espress Yourself.
Morford said she encouraged everyone to attend the outdoor event.
"It's just a nice evening to get out with friends and family and support local area artists," she said.
