Serach continues for new city administrator
The search continues.
Baldwin City's hunt for a new city administrator goes on nearly two months after the position was vacated by the former city administrator, Larry Paine.
Paine resigned as Baldwin's city administrator at the end of February after nearly four years to take a city manager position in Concordia.
Baldwin's application deadline for the open position was Tuesday, extended from the original April 1 deadline.
Mayor Ken Hayes said more than 50 people expressed interest in the position and by Tuesday morning, 36 completed applications had been received.
Now that applications have been turned in, Hayes said a committee of five -- two Baldwin City council members, two Baldwin residents and the mayor -- will review and evaluate each completed packet.
He said the committee will then decide which applicants will be contacted for interviews.
He said the plan is to have a new city administrator in a couple of months.
"We hope to have somebody in place in the month of June," he said.
Until then, Hayes said he, the city clerk and department heads are trying to make city business run as smoothly as possible.
"We've pulled together to help make the situation work," he said. "There hasn't been anything we haven't handled."
