There will soon be some new faces mixed in among some familiar ones on Baldwin’s governing boards. Last Tuesday saw the election of one new Baldwin City Council member and two incumbents and three new Baldwin Board of Education members along with one incumbent.
Baker staff assembles soldier care packages

There’s a saying that a book shouldn’t be judged by its cover. In this case, it goes for shoe boxes as well. They’re not fancy; just plain white shoe boxes with addresses on them written in magic marker. But it’s what’s inside that will really matter to the military fighting in Iraq. Staff from Baker University’s business office have begun collecting items — everything from crackers and candy to deodorant and toilet paper — to assemble shoe box care packages to send to U.S. troops fighting in Iraq.

Annexation proposal met with criticism

About 20 property owners, Midland Railway representatives and parents of Baldwin school children filled the room at Monday’s Baldwin City Council meeting to voice their opinions about a proposal for the annexation of land on the west side of town.
Wellness festival to offer screenings, health information

As nice as it sounds, an apple a day won’t meet most people’s health needs. But the Community Wellness Festival hopes to provide Baldwin with educational information and area services so people won’t have to rely on apples to remain healthy.
