Baker students sponsor

Easter egg hunt

The Delta Delta Delta sorority and the Kappa Sigma fraternity at Baker University are sponsoring an Easter egg hunt for pre-K through fifth grade at 2 p.m. Sunday in the center of the Baker campus. There will be candy and prizes.

The sorority is well known nationally for their volunteer efforts for children's cancer charities as well as research. Over six million dollars has been raised through nationwide chapters since 1974.

Auxiliary sponsors

chili cook-off

The Willow Springs Township Fire Department Auxiliary is sponsoring a chili cook-off Friday, 6:30 to10 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Building 21 North, Lawrence. There will be emergency vehicles to view, activities for the kids and useful information for adults. Everyone is welcome. A freewill donation will be accepted with a portion going to the L.D.C.F.M. Explorer Post 2555, a junior firefighter organization.

Rommelfanger named

Citizen of the Week

Sarah Rommelfanger has been selected Citizen of the Week at Baldwin Elementary School. Sarah, 11, is in Donna Reed's fifth grade class. Her parents are Mike and Dana and her brother is Josh. Her friends include Shannon, Allyson, Melissa and Madison. Her hobbies are reading, riding bikes and playing with her cats.

CK of P.E.O.

has meeting

Chapter CK of P.E.O. met at the home of Barbara Henre. Refreshments were served by Pam Colson and Larna Sue Henderson. The business meeting was conducted by Marlene Courtney, president. New officers are Marlene Courtney, president; Ruth Dickinson, vice-president; Margi Walbridge, recording secretary; Anita White, corresponding secretary; Morilla Fothergill, treasurer; Kathleen Thomas, chaplain; Susan Butell, guard; Ruth Dickinson, delegate to convention and Kathleen Thomas, alternate delegate. Donna Gene Webb and Marcia O'Neil gave the program. The next meeting is March 26 at the home of Donna Gene Webb.

First UM Church

offers Lenten recitals

The Baldwin First United Methodist Church will host Lenten Lunch Recitals where individuals may listen to beautiful music and enjoy quiet meditation time. The recitals will be each Friday of Lent, ending on Good Friday, March 29 from 12 12:30 in the church sanctuary. There is no admission fee and you may bring your lunch. Dr. Susan Buehler, director of music, is coordinator for the recitals.
