MARY E. FILBRUN

Funeral services for Mary E. Filbrun, 87, Englewood, Ohio, were Thursday at Willow Springs Old German Baptist Church, Douglas County. Services were also Saturday at Sugar Grove Old German Baptist Church in Covington, Ohio. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Covington. Mrs. Filbrun died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 21, 1914, in Beatrice, Neb., the daughter of John I. and Cora Fisher Brubaker. She was a member of Sugar Grove Old German Baptist Church.

She married David L. Filbrun April 12, 1940, in West Alexandria, Ohio. He died April 8, 2000.

Survivors include a daughter, Eileen Flory, Baldwin City; a son, Robert Filbrun, Englewood, Ohio; one brother, Elmer Brubaker, Garnett; two sisters, Ola Barnhart and Ruth Eichman, both of Garnett; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence is in charge of local arrangements.

GAYLE JEAN PARKER

Graveside services for Gayle Jean Parker, 67, Olathe, were Thursday at the Antioch Cemetery, Merriam. Mrs. Parker died Monday, March 4, 2002, at her home.

She was born Nov. 30, 1934, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of Dean R. and Mary Jane (Dann) Mitchell. She worked as a claims adjuster for Continental Insurance Company until her retirement. She was a member of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her mother in 1960.

Survivors include her daughter, Kenna Diane Routh and her husband, David, Baldwin City; a son, Ralph B. Parker and his wife, Rebecca, Garnett; her father and stepmother, Dean R. and Jane Mitchell, Overland Park and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Cancer Action, 1831 Minnesota, Kansas City, KS 66102.

Amos Family Chapel, Shawnee, is in charge of arrangements.

DOROTHY BUTCHER

Graveside services for Dorothy Butcher, 88, Lawrence, were Monday at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence. She had been a Lawrence resident since1993. Mrs. Butcher died Monday, March 11, 2002, at Presbyterian Manor.

She was born July 20, 1913, in Denison, Texas, the daughter of George and Kate Brown Stallard.

She married John Butcher on Oct. 1, 1938, in Parsons. He died March 24, 1987.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Independence. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church, Baldwin City.

Survivors include one daughter, Natalie Redding, Lawrence; one son, Steve Butcher, Conway Ark.; one brother, Phil Stallard, Topeka; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One son, George David Butcher, preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1982.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church, Independence, and sent in care of Warren McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
