First Art Walk of season set for Friday
It is time to take that relaxing stroll and enjoy the sights. The Baldwin Community Arts Council will play host to the seventh season of Art Walk Friday in downtown Baldwin City. The evening event runs from 7 to 9 p.m.
The BCAC will present a sidewalk exhibit on the southwest side of High Street, between Seventh and Eighth streets as well as inside the businesses of the Baldwin City Signal and Espress Yourself. Included in the June show will be works in a wide variety of styles and media, including photography, watercolor, pastels, mixed media and pottery with works by local and regional artists.
In addition, the Arts Council has invited members of the Ottawa Art Guild to show work on the west side of the Eight Street between High and Grove streets. Participating OAG artists include Gene Shambaugh, Linda Wisely, Stacie Kroos, Rowena Lacer, Helen Rea, Jo Flager, Nancy Oakes, Sandy Hunter, Sandra Cain and Sue Dunlap.
Area Artists are welcome to show and should call Sandy Cardens at (785) 594-4261 (9 a.m. to 7 p.m.) for requirements, should they wish to participate.
There is no charge to attend any of the exhibits and the public is invited to come enjoy this evening of art and visit with the artists. The Art Walk is now in its seventh season, having been established in 1996. The 2002 Art Walk season currently runs from June through September on the third Friday of the each month.
