Wildcats split pair; win at home, but…
Baker University's men split in basketball action last week, with the Wildcats winning 87-83 Thursday at home against Central Methodist and losing 85-74 Saturday against Avila.
Baker won the home game in come-back fashion. The Wildcats trailed 44-43 at halftime, but outscored Central Methodist 44-39 in the second half to secure the win.
Aaron Schwerman had another big night for Baker, scoring 29 points and hauling down nine rebounds. Brandon McDonnell was next with 14 points and both Josh Flett and Pedro Dos Santos added 10.
In the loss at Avila, Baker fell behind 41-37 in the first half and couldn't make it up in the second half. Schwerman was again on fire and had a season-high 30 points to go along with eight rebounds before fouling out. Adam Glenn was also in double digits with 13 points.
The split left Baker with a 7-15 overall record and a 3-8 mark in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.
