World Day of Prayer
scheduled for Friday

The World Day of Prayer service will be 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Baldwin First United Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Friends of the Library
sponsor Book Talk

The second book in the series "Westering" will be discussed at 7 p.m. March 7 at Baldwin Library. The book is titled "A Scattered People: An American Family Moves West" by Gerald McFarland. The community is invited. Books are available at the library for check out.

Sam Cooper is named
Citizen of the Week

Sam Cooper has been selected as Citizen of the Week at Baldwin Elementary School. Cooper, 10, is in Gina Hill's fourth grade class. His parents are Will and Carol and his brother is Brian. His friends include Brandon, Chris, Drew and Mason. His hobbies are sports and football.

First UM Church
offers Lenten recitals

The Baldwin First United Methodist Church will host Lenten Lunch Recitals where individuals may listen to beautiful music and enjoy quiet meditation time. The recitals will be noon to 12:30 p.m. each Friday of Lent, ending on Good Friday, March 29 in the church sanctuary. There is no admission fee and you may bring your lunch. Dr. Susan Buehler, director of music, is coordinator for the recitals.

Local student receives
PSU scholarship

Jason Curran, Baldwin City, has received the Music Foundation Scholarship and the Director's Scholarship from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg. Curran is the son of Mike and Donna Curran, Baldwin City.
