Mystery Train set to depart
A murder has been committed and it's up to the general public to solve it.
Mystery enthusiasts will have an opportunity to ride the Mystery Train, sponsored by CLEAR, at Midland Railway and try to solve the whodunit murder.
CLEAR executive director Kathy Davis said while riding the train at Midland, a mystery/murder performance is acted out for participants. It is then the job of the participants to try to solve the murder from series of clues given by the actors.
"It's been received very well in the past," Davis said. "It's really just the adventure of a lifetime."
Director Marion Constantinescu said this fall's production, "The Good, The Bad and The Really, Really Dead," is an old-fashioned western.
"It's set in the old wild, wild west," Constantinescu said. "It's a typical melodrama about a bad guy that tries to take over a town."
He said people typically enjoy the Mystery Train because of the chance to interact during the performance.
"People like it because it gives them an opportunity to be part of the show," he said. "They get to boo, hiss and interact with the characters."
Participants are also encouraged to come dressed in western clothes, Constantinescu said.
"It really adds to it," he said. "The more the audience gets involved, the more it helps the actors get into character."
A majority of the Mystery Train actors are from Baldwin and have participated in the Baldwin Community Theater in the past.
The Mystery Train runs this Thursday and Friday and Oct. 5 and Oct. 6 at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. and this Sunday and Oct. 7 at 2:30 p.m.
Reservations must be made in advance. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased by calling 549-3234.
