Bulldog tennis team has busy week
Baldwin High School's tennis team has been busy. The Bulldogs played Saturday in the Wichita Collegiate meet and Monday at Lindsborg with varying results.
Monday's meet brought three first-place medals. The No. 1 doubles team of Colleen Kivett and Holly Oakleaf, the No. 2 doubles team of Carissa Venable and Jamie Lawrenz and No. 2 singles player Sara Beaulieu all took first. Kalie Harris was fourth in No. 1 singles.
Saturday in Wichita, Oakleaf and Kivett turned in the best performance in the 32-team field with a fifth-place showing. Harris was fifth and BHS's other entries didn't place.
Also in action was the junior varsity team on Thursday at home. BHS finished second behind Topeka Hayden. In No. 1 doubles, Elizabeth Beaulieu and Lindsay Gastelum were second with a 4-1 record. In No. 2 singles, Maddie Conduff and Bridget Trybom combined to finish second.
In No. 1 singles, Jena Dick and Sarah Regnier combined to finish third. The No. 2 doubles team of Kyleigh Garmen and Jessica Hoehn and Lan Tu Lee, Ashley Bjorgaard and Sara Bowlin didn't place.
