Therapy Services opens doors in Baldwin City

September 19, 2001

There's a new business on the block in downtown Baldwin City.

Baldwin Therapy Services, 720 Eighth St., opened its doors Sept. 10.

Baldwin Therapy, a branch of Lawrence Therapy Services, and its four therapists, offers a combination of out patient and home therapy care.

Co-owner Kim Hoffman said they decided to open the local clinic because of the number of Baldwin clients they had in Lawrence.

"We'd already been doing therapy in Baldwin at Vintage Park and Orchard Lane and other homes," Hoffman said.

"And we just love the community," she said. "Everyone here is so nice."

Baldwin Therapy specializes in physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.

"Our focus is very different than any other place," Hoffman said. "We are very personal. We spend quality one-on-one time with the patient. We want the sessions to be very focused on what the person needs."

She said residents will benefit from the new business.

"It's definitely more convenient for them," she said.

Hours are by appointments only and they must be through a doctor's recommendation, Hoffman said.

Baldwin Therapy's ribbon cutting is Thursday, Sept. 27 at noon followed by an open house until 2:30 p.m. There is also an open house 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 during the Art Walk.

"It's a chance to meet all of the therapists," Hoffman said. "The whole public is welcome."

She said they are pleased to be a part of the Baldwin businesses.

"We like being part of the downtown community," she said. "It's friendly and comfortable. We are very excited to be here."
