Radio show to be broadcast in Baldwin

September 5, 2001

Baldwin City is going to have some radio time this week.

WIBW-AM 580 is bringing its Roadshow program to Baldwin and broadcasting from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Quilters' Paradise, 713 Eighth St.

"The purpose is to promote the community," said Sharon Vesecky of Quilters' Paradise.

The Topeka-based station program, which is being sponsored by the Baldwin City Chamber of Commerce, travels around Kansas featuring area towns, their history, businesses and people. This is the first time the Roadshow has featured Baldwin.

Vesecky said during the Let's Talk part of the Roadshow, Katharine Kelley will talk about Baldwin history, Bob Hruska will discuss the Midland Railroad and Baldwin businesses and Baker University will be featured.

"It will be reasons to come to Baldwin," she said.

During the Locker Talk spot, local athletics, including Baker athletes, will be featured, Vesecky said.

"The primary purpose of the show is to promote Baldwin as a whole," she said.

She hoped anyone interested in hearing the show would tune in or stop by during the broadcast.

Vesecky said the radio show is a great opportunity for Baldwin.

"We're just hoping to get more exposure," she said.
